Phan Thiet is the capital of Binh Thuan Province and lives on rice and fishing. In 1967 it was a charming and prosperous pre industrial place where you could see how things are done without motors. It had been hardly touched by the war but lost some of that charm when the left bank was bombed during the Tet Offensive.
